Friendly Chirps About: Moeart

May 28th, 2008

I couldn’t think of a better turn of phrase than the Friendly Chirp (the ‘chicks often get called ‘chirp’ and ‘cheep’). So this will be our regular column about customer-friends!

I’m starting this off with Moe! Moe is a perpetually cheerful clayer from Hawaii who we’ve had the good fortune to ‘meet’ on Polymer Clay Central’s forum. Moe also makes fabulous clay art and sells it on Etsy and had the good taste (ahem) to buy a couple of Claychicks canes not long ago!

Using some of my Black and White canes she dreamed up this lovely piece:

You should also definitely take a look at her Moe-stones (should that be Moe-amber?). And Moe has  a blog too!

Little Grab Bags of Goodness

May 27th, 2008

If you know us at all, you know that one of the Claychicks (that would be Carolyn) had twins at the end of 2007! Lovely, healthy twins - a boy and a girl, Gavin and Maddie. At the same time, her Carpal Tunnel Syndrome kicked into overtime so now that she has a little chance to clay, she is having trouble doing more than just the bare minimum.

Ack!

Cane Grab BagShe had a brain wave though :) Like a lot of us caners she has stacks of canes in not-perfect-for-sale sizes. Little short pieces, unreduced chunks, you name it… Lots of pieces that aren’t ends but aren’t our regular 1/2″ wide by 2″ long pieces. So she collected tubs of these in 1.5oz amounts and called them her Grab Bags.

Cane Grab BagYou can check Carolyn’s Grab Bags out on our Etsy - I set it up as two listings, so that Etsy would stop counting the sales as one sale (instead of 8 or 10! the silly thing). These are duplicate listings for a total of 7 bags of cane goodness in Caro’s designs:

If you like a variety of good stuff, these are the perfect way to give canes a try!

Claychicks Weekly - Roses Galore!

May 9th, 2008

As we’re wandering our way through Spring, I got asked for a lot more rose canes - so this boxful that went onto Etsy has quite a few of those even if it’s not what I picked for my top 3 favourites:

My other Claychick-half is busily rearranging her boxes of canes, reducing what she can and making grab bags up of smaller pieces (and bigger ones for those who wanted some larger sections). It’s a good way for her to stick to light duty - reducing canes can be a strain on a wrist in pain - and still get in on the clay fun.

Spring 2008!

April 2nd, 2008

It has been a busy, busy few months! One of the Claychicks (we’ll call her Chirp ;) ) had twins! A healthy boy and girl join our flock. The other one of us got sidetracked with offline, un-clay activities.

Spring being a season for new things has brought us back to an old but loved one - our clay! Look for all new listings on our Etsy and new clay related ramblings on here.

We’re happy to include links back to our clay friends in our blogroll and to profile you right on here for added friendly promotion and fun.

UPDATE

September 6th, 2007

Hi Everyone!

It has been very quiet around here…so I figured I would give y’all an update on what is going on.  Elaine has been MIA with computer issues for most of the summer, making communication difficult.  Hopefully she is claying up a storm so we have stock in the shop soon!

I am pregnant and expecting twins in January.  This has not been an easy pregnancy, and issues such as severe carpal tunnel syndrome have resulted in me having to put clay on the back burner for now.  I hope once the babies are here and we get into a routine I will be back in the swing of things and able to return to making canes..I do miss it SO MUCH!

Hopefully things will return to normal soon!!

Shipping Rates

May 18th, 2007

The USPS raised it’s rates this Monday, May 14. For domestic shipping, the price changes on our ebay / etsy items is small: $.25

The price change for shipping to International locations changed rather more and we’re still working on some solutions so that we don’t have to inflict the 400%+ increase on our customers. If you buy something from The Claychicks and you need it shipped out of the US, contact us so we can figure something out please!

Claychicks Weekly - Coffee & Bees

May 16th, 2007

Catchy title huh? This has to do with this ebay set, which has the popular coffee, cream and turquoise hues and this set on ebay which has roses… and bees. If you like your morning caffeine with a little less buzz there’s always this pretty black and white set with one striking crimson rose:

Claychicks Weekly: Cats, Pansies & Roses

May 9th, 2007

What have these got to do with each other? Not much. Except that somewhere in our artist brains, we ended up with clay canes of all of these. And that’s what we’ve got on Ebay this week.

Carolyn named the cat in this set Fred. And now it’s stuck in my head. Anyways, Fred likes to chase bugs as my cats did so the set has some flowers and ferns for Fred to chase a bee through.

My other Ebay set is a sampler of pastel roses. Just like having a box of crayons.

And for some good ol’ eye candy we have the last pack - for this season at least - of Carolyn’s pansies:
