How-to: Supplies for Working with Clay

Monday, April 30th, 2007

I guess a list of basic supplies is pretty subjective. So this is the basics list of someone who makes and works with polymer clay canes almost exclusively. Your mileage may vary! (more…)

How-to: Introduction & Polymer Clay Resources

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The Claychicks sell polymer clay goodness - canes and beads, mostly. The little designs are lovely, interesting and fun (in our humble opinions) but for a new clayer, or an interested crafter, they’re a bit of an enigma!

Enter our How-to category!

We’ve collected an awful lot of links, trivia and info over the last few years of claying and we’ll neaten it up, write it up and post it here as a helpful resource. The How-to category will include the useful tips - storage, finishing, getting the most out of your canes - for our customers as well as some ideas on how to use them. Links to projects will be added or projects written.

The end goal is a useful resource to help our customers or any interested person. We love our clay and we’re happy to share why!

Claychicks Weekly: The Is It Really Spring Edition

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

The climate for this half of the Claychicks Coop is notably odd - we had snow until late last week and we may again. It’s been nice this week though so here’s hoping it really is Spring! Carolyn’s half of the coop seems to be in the same boat, hoping that it really is Spring.

On that hopeful note she made up a bouquet of wildflowers for our Ebay offering of the week:

She tells me that this is echinacea (purple coneflower! see? I’m learning!), sunflower, daisy, some accent flowers and a leaf cane. She made a sweet set of tiles with these that you can see on our Flickr. We’ve also got a stack of canes on Etsy.
