How-to: Supplies for Working with Clay
I guess a list of basic supplies is pretty subjective. So this is the basics list of someone who makes and works with polymer clay canes almost exclusively. Your mileage may vary!
Basics
- a work surface, like a ceramic tile
- sharp blades
- a pasta machine (or something else that makes flat sheets)
- a ruler
- a reliable oven and thermometer
- a baking surface (the work surface can double if you use tiles)
Bead Making
- skewer, needles
- accordion folded paper or bead racks (keep your beads from rolling around while baking)
Finishing
- wet dry sandpaper
- glazes
- buffing tools (like Dremel or a bench grinder equipped with muslin wheels)
