How-to: Cane Storage
Kept properly, polymer clay lasts for years. Canes are no exception - if you keep them out of dust, heat and wrapped or separated from each other, you should be able to use them for years.
So what works for storage?
First, if you want your canes to not stick to each other, I suggest wrapping them or separating them. We wrap our canes in Saran Wrap (a brand of plastic food wrap). Wax paper works but will slightly leach or harden the canes.
Second, canes I intend to sell - or keep for a while before I use them - I store standing in fishing tackle boxes by Plano. Any container with a PETE symbol of 5 will work, though, and I use inexpensive disposable plastic containers for storage of cane bits and other clay.

Carolyn uses ammo boxes like the ones sold here, by Clay Alley.
